Target Audience Research: Woman's Day Holiday Fun Magazine

Image
This magazine is similar to my magazine and its target audience. This magazine is directed towards younger and middle aged women that have a creative mind. They are directly focusing their magazines towards women, they have no intent on attracting the other gender. They feel that focusing on one specific gender would make more income than trying to attract both genders. This company is very big with social media and marketing on social media. They keep their customer service available on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter because more people find it more convenient to post their questions or comments on apps like those. They will also interact with users posting on social media. If their post is about the magazine or about the company they may respond to them or comment back to interact with them.

Target Audience Research

The audience most likely to be attracted to my magazine and buying different editions would most likely be between the ages of 16 and higher. It most likely stops at the age of 40. Most people beyond that age are not as interested in creating their own crafts and would rather go out and buy them already made.  The gender most likely to purchase a "DIY" magazine such as one like mine, would be women and young women. Men and boys may also purchase this magazine but it is focused more towards females and projects that would more likely attract them. These magazines would be sold around the country. It would more likely be sold in bigger cities and states with a lot of popularity. I would also make sure the projects could be completed in any climate or whether conditions. People purchasing these magazines would need to be educated in some way in order to be able to read directions and follow along. They would also have to have an average income level.

Conventions/Social Groups

My magazine is focused on families with small children that are looking for inexpensive projects to do. During Christmas time, many families have children at home that tend to get bored very easily. By having these cheap, fun, easy projects it will keep them entertained. Including an article about a canvas painting, it allows children to be creative and come up with their own designs. Although there are many other crafts to pick from, this craft is very resourceful. After you make your canvas there are many other crafts you can create from the materials you used. Families want to be able to have fun with their kids and allow them to use the materials again to make more crafts and memories. One convention I tried to use to get this type of audience to read this magazine are the pictures I included. I wanted the pictures to attract children and families. I tried to take pictures that were colorful and really stood out in the magazine. I also tried to use phrases and captions that sounded...

Feedback/Revisions

Receiving my feedback and reviewing other students work allowed me to come up with many revisions I need to make to my magazine. One revision I need to make is adding page numbers to my pages. On the right pages I need to put the page number on the bottom right and on the left pages I will put the page numbers on the bottom left hand corner. I also need to add a date to the cover of my magazine. I planned on doing December 8th, 2017.  I want to do this date because it is close to Christmas but not too far from it so people will be interested in the crafts. For my cover I want to take a better picture for the background. I want a background where I have some blank space but also an eye-catching picture to look at. I want some blank space to put in some more captions in my cover. I also want to change the font of the writing on my cover page to something easier to read. I also wanted to come up with a more creative title and put the edition it is under the title in a smaller font. Fo...
