Distribution Research: Better Homes and Gardens

The website of Better Homes and Gardens has many advertisements on the right side of the page. Another advertisement came up to sign up for a membership. There is a spot for your email to sign up. The advertisements on the side are moving and popping up with different words. to catch the eye of the viewer. There are also advertisements to view their other magazines. They list the deals they offer such as "All 3 magazines just $10." At the bottom of the page they list places where the magazines can be found. It describes that the products are a Walmart. On the social media website Pinterest, they have many different projects, crafts, creative ideas and much more. They have 1,648,221 followers on Pinterest. They also have a Facebook page with any posts on different crafts and ideas. On this Facebook page they also advertise different products and stores. Since this magazine is about crafts and creating projects or decorations they have many opportunities to advertise the materials needed in these projects. Better Homes and Gardens is also found on twitter and Instagram. On their Instagram page they supply their email and a link to their main website. Their pictures are taken by everyday people. They also tag the people in the picture to give them credit for the picture and to attract them to their page and their pictures. This gives me a better understanding for how i would distribute my product. Many of the advertisements changed on the website, they had a section for advertisements and instead of having just 1 it would rotate through many at a time. This allows for more advertisers and more income. Another way I could distribute my product could be through Instagram. Their way of tagging people in their pictures allow for them to get those viewers to view and read their page. This will increase their number of followers. This will also direct their followers to their website to see more crafts and to see if their picture was used on their website. This will get more viewers on the website viewing the page and the advertisements.

I chose the magazine Better Homes and Gardens Autumn Glow. The cover of this magazine has brown, gold, and orange colors to represent the season of Fall. The font and size is very large and bold to catch the eye. They show a bowl filled with decorations for the season. It also shows different decorations to lay out around your house or anywhere you feel like it. They also have little captions such as "Spooky fun crafts" to try and get the reader to open the magazine. The table of contents is located on page 3 and includes many pages from the magazine. it has four pictures in the middle of the page with the page numbers listed in the corner to describe what can be found on those pages. The table of contents also separates the pages into categories based on what is found on those pages. They also advertise their online magazines and website.
